VI Brisbane (QLD) (im campervan)

Rockhampton - Bundaberg (Qld) (Thursday, 6/18/2009)
Weather: fine, cloudy, rainy / Temp: 24 ° C / Wind: 1 - 2 HE

We drive today to "Bundaberg", a city of about 70,000 inhabitants, which about 300 km south is of "Rockhampton" in the "Burnet River, near the coast. We are getting there quickly, as we note the street sign "Rest or RIP (rest up, or rest in peace) for not even draw :-)

Heading to our surprise, the longer to the more clouds. The weathermen have it good weather for the next seven days predicted. As we enter shortly after noon in "Bundaberg", it starts to drizzle but actually easy. We find, however, not nice :-( Since "Perth" we never had more rain and this is right back almost three months. Only in "Townsville" four weeks ago, it was also drizzled briefly. We take it on the chin.

In "Bundaberg" we directly control the BIG4 Camping Cane Village Holiday Park ", which in close proximity (5 minutes) of the largest shopping center in the city," Sugarland Shopping Town is located. Also "McCafe" is located there. Stroll is announced. The day is saved :-)

The BIG4 Campingpatz has a good infrastructure including NET4. The wireless reception even in Büssli properly, because we optimized for transmitting / :-) want

In Bundaberg and Bargara (Qld) (Friday, 19/06/2009)
Weather: very nice / Temp: 25 degrees / Wind: 4 - 5 HE

When we look out the window this morning, we can hardly believe it, the sky is presented in a cloudless blue. Hamdulillah :-)) At 16 degrees, early morning, it is even warm. A trip to downtown is nothing in the way.

After the usual morning routine (gymnastics, five Tibetans, breakfast, etc.), we drive to the center of "Bundaberg" and park our "Büssli" on the "Riverside Parklands," which right on the Burnett River near the main shopping street, the "Bourbong Street," the content.

What a contrast to the conservative and dull looking "Rockhampton"! The center of "Bundaberg" with countless shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafes and shopping malls, is made much more attractive and modern. In this vibrant city, we feel immediately comfortable.

are nestled in between the old buildings with beautiful, colorful facades of the colonial period. The interplay between old and new here really well.

One of the most beautiful buildings is once again the post.

This colorful building is currently a "Thai Indian Restaurant".

Also in the center are three churches next to each other.

The hotels and pubs nest, as here, a master of the beautiful Victorian buildings, which seem very cozy ..

In of the many cozy cafes, we drink our obligatory cappuccino.

Because today unexpectedly good weather prevails, we decide spontaneously and continue into the village 12 kilometers away, "Bargara" to the "Coral Coast.

We have extensive sandy beaches expected and are a little disappointed. Perhaps our expectations were, after all these wonderful beaches in the south, north and northeast screwed something up. Except for a nice beach promenade are a few hotels along the beach road and a few cafes in the street because it's not too much to see.

After lunch we take a little along the coast. Crossing just south of "Bargara" we the dam to a charming "Inlet." The villas in the background having a real "first class" seats,

the "Black Swan" as well on his island.

We pass a few miles to the numerous villas and apartment buildings. Again, there is nothing special to look at, so we go back to the holding camp, enjoy a little afternoon sun and drink our coffee at "McCafe" why not?

In Bundaberg (Qld) (Saturday, 20/06/2009)
Weather: very nice / Temp: 27 ° C / Wind: 1 - 2 HE

The weather in the south is uncertainty over the next few days. We therefore remain one more day in "Bundaberg" because the stay in a city in rainy weather but pleasant than in a small village, such as "Hervey Bay", our next destination. Because we liked the city so well, we decide, once again spend a few hours there.

Today welcomes us, despite poor weather forecast, again with a cloudless sky. Tonight begins here on the south side of the earth, the longest night of the year. Although we have crossed between "Rockhampton" and "Bundaberg" the limit of the tropical to subtropical zone, the climate is currently anything but wintry. The "Rainbow Lorikeet" were here with freezing temperatures and snow due to her difficulties.

We enjoy the warmth of its "winter" and sitting in T-shirts and shorts to breakfast. Before we go into the city, we look at the small airport of "Bundaberg", which is close to the campsite. He is of the size terms, roughly equivalent to the Airport Altenrhein "in Switzerland and is above all feed into the international airports, such as" Brisbane "," Cairns "and" Sydney ".

plane will land an airplane in "Brisbane".

Then you go further into the City. We are still early. But today is Saturday and as many go shopping in the city. In the main shopping street is dense, slow-moving traffic. The Australians would like to walk as little as possible and park in front of his chosen store. We have a few hundred meters on a large public parking area with many open spaces parked, and therefore no such worries ;-)

have always, there are still new things to discover, for example, this schnüssige pharmacy, which is presumably moved into a former church.

Not far from the center has "Sizzler" settled down. An extended lunch is no obstacle. In the afternoon preparing a large-scale power failure this walk to an abrupt end. We return to the campsite and enjoy a little sun. We do not need electricity :-)
