Lewinsky Walters Entire Interview Online

VII Brisbane (QLD) (im campervan)

Bundaberg - Hervey Bay (Qld) (Sunday, 06/21/2009)
Weather: nice / Temp: 27 ° C / Wind: 2 - 4 HE

little surprised we were already public, in the night started to rain suddenly. The ghost, however, lasted only a few minutes, and in the morning the sky is surprisingly cloudless again.

Of the Kookaburras we allow ourselves to be happy with her infectious laughter wake from sleep. Laughter is finally healthy :-).

Our next destination is the resort of "Hervey Bay". It is located only 118 km from our present location, and is known as "Whale Watching Capital." He has a "Esplanade" with countless charming boutiques, cafes and restaurants. He also touts the 40 km of pristine beaches. Just before "Hervey Bay is the island known as" Fraser Iceland ", which is passable only with 4WD vehicles.

After the whales this year should have arrived a little earlier, we would like to take this opportunity to book a whale watching tour. Let's see how far we can agree in information.

Although today is Sunday, or perhaps because there is, on the Bruce Highway "relatively dense Traffic.

We drive past extensive pineapple and Macadamia Nut plantations.

Before lunch, we meet in "Hervey Bay" field. We are surprised by the size and the urban nature of the resort. Actually, we have a village similar to "Airlie Beach", expected.

on the "Top Tourist Park Australiana" in the middle "Hervey Bay" we get a sunny plot. The camp has a very good infrastructure. Wireless internet is even free! We are thrilled.

When we ask at reception about the "Whale Watching Tour," the nice lady tells us that the whales had been seen only behind the island, "Fraser Iceland and from there currently are no tours are offered.

the afternoon we drive over 14 km of the Esplanade along to give us an overview about "Hervey Bay".

The town actually consists of several villages, which are grown together. We begin our journey of discovery with the southern-most part "Urangan. Striking here is the huge long pier, which extends from the currently prevailing low tide very far from the water. The tide here is about three meters.

impressive especially the monumental "Peppers Pier Resort is. The huge building with a complex architecture created is definitely one of the most perfect form of place.

In Hervey Bay (Qld) (Monday, 22/06/2009)
Weather: rainy / Temp: 22 degrees / Wind: 1 - 2 HE

First the good news: When we wake up at half past seven, the thermometer already shows 20 degrees. The bad: it just starts to rain. We are not surprised because the weather forecasts for the whole east coast for the next few days not just rosy.

is the garden of our campsite, designed as so often in Australia, with much effort and care. We have time to look around more closely. Where we often carelessly pass by, you discover suddenly beautiful plants that will appreciate this warm rain well.

The lush green of the leaves is now best advantage.

Although this time is in winter driving, various tropical palm species flowers.

In the meantime it is really raining and the sky is gray instead of blue for once. In the afternoon, the weathermen say but again loosening ahead of the clouds :-) But we are skeptical, because it rains a really. There seems to be the first real rainy day, since we are on our trip to Australia :-( (So we have no big plans for today. We will stay in our Büssli and engage a Lese-/Schreib-/Computertag.'s Dinner is today because of the wet weather at the Italian restaurant.

In Hervey Bay (Qld) (Tuesday, 23/06/2009)
Weather: very nice / Temp: 26 ° C / Wind: 1 - 2 HE

During the night it has stopped raining. The dispersed clouds can already by the first rays of sun. We can even have breakfast in the sunshine :-)

We then walk to the beach, just 10 minutes away from our campsite. In the village "Scarness" something we stroll the Esplanade along.

The clouds are gradually dissolving. There will be another beautiful day. In "Enzo's Cafe, right on the sandy beach approve, we are a fine cappuccino.

The flag on the roof indicates that this cozy restaurant is in German, Italian hand. The coffee tastes great.

Our journey takes us to the southern end of "Hervey Bay", where is the "Boat Harbour". The life-gosse whale has clearly points to the main attraction of the village.

From the "Boat Club" building has a magnificent view of the marina and the many yachts that are anchored here.

Because it's so beautiful here, we decide summarily, right there in 'Sinbad's Bistro "to take the lunch. And it's a good decision. The restaurant is highly recommended. We rarely have eaten so cheap and good as here. For "Chilli prawns with rice and vegetables (5 varieties), we pay only A $ 22.50 and the portions are veritabel.

After a short visit with friends (the time being, unfortunately, in the holidays), we go back to "Scarness. Low tide makes the beach appear not as flawless as the morning. Behind the wide sandy beach now already rock appears.

We have fun like every night, the playful "Rainbow Lorikeets.

If we are back in Europe, we will miss them and their nightly concert determined.

Hervey Bay - Rainbow Beach (Qld) (Wednesday, 24/06/2009)
Weather: beautiful and funny / Temp: 26 ° C / Wind: 1 - 2 HE

The day begins again almost cloudless. The only draw a few mist of the morning wind driven offshore. We leave in time to take advantage of the beautiful day. After meeting two hours we are in a 130 km "Rainbow Beach. The Camping Rainbow Beach Holiday Village is situated in the village, only a few meters from the beach.

Unfortunately, the sky is now covered by high Cirrenwolken, so that the "Rainbow Beach" his colors can not really develop.

There are other attractions to enjoy on the beach as the sand of this sunken wreck. Actually, we expected the "Cherry Venture Shipwreck," a shipwreck from the days of steam ships. But perhaps we find this still.

The toilet on the pretty beach house pictured of "Rainbow Beach" looks at least better value from Marvel :-)

are the many "Pandanus Palms" with these special roots that can be seen along the entire beach.

After lunch we walk for 30 minutes' walk away, "Carlo Sand Blow Lookout. The well-developed way we discover a tree, even a "dragon".

The sand bar of "Cooloola's Ancient Sands" has accumulated over thousands of years by the power of wind and water. Even Captain James Cook on his voyage of discovery in 1770 had described along the east coast of this sand phenomenon.

The sand is ultra fine and light yellow. Partly as a nearly white patches underneath.

The sand dune is huge and extends far out into the bush.

Our walk was worth it anyway. At least the sun thanks to the clouds is something more spectacular.
