In Port Macquarie (NSW) (Friday, 07/24/2009
Weather: very nice / Temp: 22 degrees / Wind : 2 - 3 HE
Although the sea is in sight, it was tonight, very quiet, so we slept well our jogging along the beach promenade to the marina and back is now really going at only 12 degrees air temperature refreshing;. -) on the other replaced it, in fact, the morning coffee and brings the blood circulation going. There's
breakfast in the bright sunshine before Büssli.
We then walk along the beach promenade in the city center.
The parks with cafes invite you to linger.
It's a great feeling, shoulder to shoulder with Sir Edmund Barton, the first Australian prime minister to sit on a bench ;-)
"Golf Croquet" is more of a game for older people. It is one without great distances to the target and it is far less demanding than for example a "18 Hole Golf Court.
Do not worry, on such a small paddle boat, we would never dare to go to sea.
pelicans we have not seen for a long time. Here at the "Fish Cleaning Table" is always somewhat for them.
The pelican is a true flight artists. Particularly impressive it looks when they slide with their large wings a few inches above the water and then at some point as a large seaplane land with their feet as a swimmer forward.
the afternoon we visit the only hospital for "koala" in the world, "Koala Hospital Port Macquerie.
Each year there are 200 to 300 "Koalas" medical treatment and care.
The hospital is run mostly by volunteers. Only two or three people are employed. This unique facility is solely by donations and revenue of souvenir items funded at the kiosk. Admission is free.
place at three clock daily Guidance with feeding of the rare endangered animals instead.
This old lady is the oldest "Koala" in the hospital and possibly the whole of Australia, because it is already 22 years old. Normally, "Koalas" only 13 to 15 years old.
This "blind" Koala ", the hospital also can not leave.
We leave this unique hospital with mixed feelings, because right next to the property a main road through car and put the dogs together with the main threat to "Koalas" dar.
In the wild, we have these cute creatures, unfortunately, never found all the time.
We go back to the campsite, past the "Lookout" with a great view of the campsite and the "Inlet" input.
At dusk we walk to the city center.
"Glass House Art Conference and Entertainment Centre, the major regional theater and entertainment center of" Port Macquarie "are now in a festive evening lighting. It has just opened in 2008. The Theatre includes at least 620 seats. The people are standing outside the entrance waiting in line.
Since we are only a few days in Australia, we chose the restaurant "El Rio" to once again enjoy a delicious, Australian fish.
Port Macquarie - Karuah (NSW) (Saturday, 07/25/2009)
Weather: very nice / Temp: 22 degrees / Wind: 1 letter
The night has cooled efficient. We measure early in the morning still only 9 degrees air temperature. Because this still blows a little wind, it is particularly fresh. We refuse categorically to such beautiful weather to eat in the "Büssli" and draw us and instead of jackets
:-) Actually, we wanted today lying on a peninsula, "Nelson Bay drive. Unfortunately, predicting the weather forecasts for tomorrow, Sunday for the entire coast of rain, so we decide for one last stop in "Karuah" on our trip to "Sydney".
see in "Forster" we just in time to a "McCafe". It's cappuccino time! "And this time we get our" coffee card "once again a free café. Next we take you through a beautiful lake and "Inlet" landscape, as in Scandinavia.
At the southern end of the big "Wallis Lake," we make a lunch stop. The idyllic "Rest Area" on the lake is located magical.
Right behind it is also a restaurant with a terrace overlooking the lake. We pamper yourself today
The Australian crows have a more pleasant reputation than ours in Switzerland and are surprisingly much less shy.
The "Kookaburra" We look interested in eating, whether it remains perhaps for something else.
your group call is unmistakable. Finally intended gathered five of these curious birds in the trees around us.
Village "Karuah is located on the south bank of the Karuah River, which flows into the" Port Stephens Bay.
still the sky is cloudless. We can not really believe that it will rain tomorrow.
BIG4 Camping Karuah Jetti is located right on the waterfront of the village. We get on the rather small space just a sunny place.
The infrastructure of the camp is able to tie not quite reach the usual standard BIG4. The kitchen is equipped minimal and the only utility sink still clogged. The toilet facilities left a constricting feeling, and even there the water flows into the basin from some bad. The WLAN of NET4 does not work either. This somewhat dilapidated condition of the place is probably because of the lack of leadership. We at least to better BIG4 usual.
In Karuah (NSW) (Sunday, 07/26/2009)
Weather: cloudy to overcast / Temp: 18 degrees / Wind: 1 letter
After yesterday evening We can hardly believe it. The sky is now actually covered. The weathermen seem to keep quite. However, "gügslet" (in German: wink ;-), the sun has already passed through the clouds again. This morning we practice once again, the Tai-Chi 108-form it. Right next to our plot is a large enough area, which is ideally suited for it.
For Sunday breakfast with eggs, it means first fire up the heating, because it is 11 degrees too cold for comfortable sitting. Our Kombi-Klima-/Heiz-Aggregat provides a valuable service and so once again we can stand the morning in the well air-conditioned Büssli quite well. And then it begins to rain but actually slightly :-( So we remain first in our campervan and wait until the rain is over
and behold.. At noon, the sky clears up again and already makes the sun from space Tomorrow is the next few days anyway again Devise pure, the right weather for our final stay in "Sydney". The overall impression of a landscape / city is the travel experience has shown decisively influenced by weather patterns, and we want to take the great taste of this great city of Australia and like to take home.
Around noon we walk through the village a bit and see if we get anywhere Internet access. Unfortunately, nil, except for a cappuccino and cake in the only snack bar, which has now opened Sunday is to bring business here. The Computer Shop vis-à-vis is unfortunately closed. Thus, this post will appear just a little late in our travel diary :-)
The only bridge over the "Karuah River, except the" Pacific Highway ", out here on this Flow.
This long "Jetty" (jetty) has given the name of our campsite. He closes on the shores of our place.
much more to this little "hole" (German: village) not to see well. "Magpie", a special musical and absolutely not afraid of people crow, gives us the end of our walk nor honor.
Karuah - Sydney (NSW) (Monday, 27/07/2009)
Weather: cloudy / Temp: 22 degrees / Wind: 1 - 2 HE
In the night we celebrate the only short thunderstorm on our way for eight months. The nuclei of Thunder, as is commonly heard in our house is missing here entirely, lacking in the area to the echoing hills. Under the motto: "When angels travel, laughs the sky," begins the last day of our trip to the unique continent again with brilliant sunshine. Therefore, to suggest that we are angels, would be missed, however ;-)
on the eucalyptus trees behind the "Büssli" whistles a young Magpie his morning song, while his older conspecifics go on the lawn in search of food.
nests on the adjacent parcel currently a "Bee Wee. incubates
While one of the eggs, the other fits like a hawk to ensure that no one comes close.
why the birds have their nests built on the middle of the campsite, is a mystery to us, because there is always something going on. The birds defend their nests quite aggressive and full of flying on the disturbing people, so that some people throw themselves to the ground to not wear a facial injury like this.
The circle of our "trip around Down Under" will close. Today we drive to the campsite " Lane Cove River Tourist Park " which is located in a small national park in the suburb of North Ride "north of" Sydney ". Closer than 14 miles, unfortunately, none of the campsites.
The almost 200 km long trip on the "Pacific Highway" to the campsite is speedily. In "McCafe in 'Newcastle' we take a little break and check again the weather and possible campsites in and around Sydney. over the well-built" "we take our final goal," Freeway Sydney "contrary. This leads, in contrast to the parallel "Pacific Highway "in an extended line through the varied landscape.
The road winds its way elegantly among lakes and hills.
In search of the camp" Lane Cove River Tourist Park "process we are in the National Park despite the" TomTom ". The GPS data in the navigation system are" light next to it, so it caught the wrong access road to the campsite. With the exact address details we have any more luck. A correction will update the GPS data can we "TomTom" come naturally over the Internet :-)
Camping located in a forest and has a good infrastructure, including wireless all over the place. The bus stop in for "Sydney City" is just about 10 minutes. We are pleased with our plot in a forest clearing near the facilities and, to completely satisfied with wireless reception.
We take another walk around the surrounding area to know and especially the bus station for our morning trip to the "City" check.
