Third day in Brisbane (Qld) (Sunday, 07/05/2009)
Weather: beautiful, serene / Temp: 22 degrees / Wind: 1 - 2 Bf .
It is freezing cold when we wake up (about 10 degrees). The double duvet has paid off. Because today is Sunday, there's a soft-boiled egg for breakfast. Shops are closed on Sundays and in principle this is a good thing. On the other hand, in "Brisbane" while market day. At various points are held such DIY artists and markets. Tens of thousands thus use the Sunday to get used to the different Markets to enjoy. These markets are also a platform for many street artists, jugglers, folk groups and other musicians.
We take the first bus to the Eagle Street Pier Market, located in the eastern part of the City on the banks of the Brisbane River. " The bus network in "Brisbane" is perfectly developed and well-organized. At each stop, the next three buses will be displayed on an electronic display with time and destination, so you can adjust in time to it. The buses are comfortable and most of them powered by gas.
is striking that we found in the buses rarely intentional damage. The reason for this might be that acts of vandalism here a lot harder than we do at home to be punished. Each offense will be displayed and has a judicial process to result in conviction. Generally we see here a lot less graffiti than in the former clean Switzerland. We are obviously too lenient to deal with such offenders.
Also of note: Younger passengers are immediately and make older men and women with prams polite place. At home, this is unfortunately long gone, of course. However, appropriate signs on the buses here do point out (Priority Seating).
The "Eagle Street Pier is ", with its extensive pedestrian areas, an ideal place for a street market. The harbor is located between skyscrapers and is dotted with restaurants and cafes.
It's really entertaining and exciting to watch the street performers.
if "John Smith" as it stands in the back written on his bass drum, really mean? In any case, his country songs and evergreens presented intoxicating and expertly.
The market is much Nice served at reasonable prices. Many a bargain among them. Also we buy a few things.
only because of the specific location on the pier and the cozy atmosphere is well worth a visit to the market.
The German sausage with sauerkraut on one of the stalls smiles at us, so we try two of them.
And they taste really excellent :-)
Meanwhile, we look at a particularly talented and witty artist.
The man is truly versatile. It is not just a juggler and acrobat, but he was also the showman and entertainer, his special qualities.
it a great morning at the Eagle Street Pier Market "was, but we still want to see another Sunday market.
The "Inner City Ferry" we take the other side of the river to the "South Bank".
The Eagle Street Pier seen from the river looks great.
chug With the slow-moving ferry down the river we cozy.
there place on the vast grounds also a Sunday market with lots of shows and performances take place.
we discover on our walk through the park that many more walking trails and beautiful gardens, we had missed on our first tour two days ago.
The park is still much higher than we initially thought and now here to keep tens of thousands.
Again, there are several artists with entertaining performances where the audience fascinated lingers.
too early to start, who wants to be a true artist.
between we drink in one of the many cafes for a cappuccino.
In the area there is also a large covered arena for any demonstrations.
A Scottish music itself is always an attraction here.
The youngest musician is busy with his mini bass drum there.
At the end of this interesting day, we still look a Scottish family in their vocal performance to.
By bus we need now only a quarter of an hour to the campsite. The traffic on the roads today, Sunday is minimal.
fourth day in Brisbane (Qld) (Monday, 07/06/2009)
Weather: nice / Temp: 22 degrees / Wind: 1 letter
help, we are of Pirates ;-) circled in addition to the "Wicked Campers" and "Hippie Camper" is also still "Travellers Auto Barn", which with brightly painted campervan younger customers responds.
With 9 degrees this morning, we measure a new low temperature. Unfortunately, the morning sun is covered on our plot of a tree. As there are currently sufficient places available, we go before breakfast on a sunny place :-)
By bus we drive already almost as commuters in the city. We are for instance looking for a SDHC memory card for our digital camera. In Australia there are not nearly as big electronics stores, like here in Europe (eg Media Markt). The selection in the small shops is relatively low, and we would not even buy some cheap memory card, but one with possible faster write speed, which is especially important in a camera.
Our Digital Camera:
Buying a new digital camera is waiting. Our "Kodak EasyShare P850 is gradually" End of Life. " She has suffered in the last seven months and is very well no longer fully up to date ". Currently available in our evaluation of the "Canon Powershot SX10 IS" in the first place. The second follows the Kodak successor "EasyShare Z980, the third the" Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 and the fourth then the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. The camera is ideal for us it has not, unfortunately.
What us from unscrupulous sales the "Canon" discourage, the relatively poor resolution electronic viewfinder, which is the quality of the pictures can hardly be properly assessed. In about ninety percent of the images we use a viewfinder and not just that the light-sensitive display. Three years ago this was the main reason why we finally had the "Kodak" bought and not the "Canon". "Canon" has unfortunately not much to learn. Another negative reason is a serious design flaw on the lens barrel, so dust can penetrate into the interior, leading eventually to failure of the lens actuator. Thus Kodak probably win the race again. Which camera we choose, we will issue guarantee reasons now only in Switzerland. The prices are almost identical anyway.
before yesterday, we have the Albert Street Uniting Church 'from the tower of "City Hall" admired from.
Today we see the striking church surrounded by skyscrapers on the inside. It was built in 1889 and the interior consists mainly of fine "Cedar" and "Oregon" wood.
Interesting also is the elaborately painted organ with 2250 pipes, the majority of which is not directly visible.
The nice organist leads us because of our demand after all the pipes behind the organ and finally gives us only have a short private concert.
The Exceptional courage to record this skyscraper at prime location on the banks of the Brisbane River from.
The courageous color and shape as the mighty edifice of what constitutes good architecture.
The modern, yet appealing courtyard design seems to us absolutely succeeded.
from the Victoria Bridge, we enjoy the prospect of "Brisbane River."
The artistically designed Promenade that meanders gracefully through the almost two kilometer-long "South Bank Park, we walk to our destination for lunch.
With "Amici's Pizza Pasta" in the center located in the park, the pizza tastes excellent and is still inexpensive.
Then we walk as a digestive walk around the botanical garden, past the venerable old building "The Mansions" (row houses from the Victorian era, built in 1890) in the inner city.
Time passes as you stroll through the shopping streets are just flying, so we think back to the dinner soon need. In "The Crêpe Café" we approve a fine crepe.
on the fire-red sunset, we wait in vain today.
But the blue hour is gradually developing into a fairy-like atmosphere, showing the skyline in bright lighting.
The full moon gives us the honor :-)
Satisfied with the day we take the bus back to the campsite.
fifth day Brisbane (Qld) (Tuesday, 07/07/2009)
Weather: cloudy, rainy / Temp: 20 degrees / Wind: 1 - 3 HE
Today we (once again forced the sake ;-) a "recovery and recreation day "one. The weather has unfortunately deteriorated contrary to the original weather forecasts for today and tomorrow and rain is predicted. No further comment about it ;-)
we dry the laundry today for the first time on our trip in the dryer. The shopping we do in the five-minute walk from the "Shopping Center". In "Subway" we eat for lunch our favorite sandwich. A day is also well suited to browse the web button ;-) We We test a variety of sites about digital cameras before, to make progress in our evaluation, such as:
www.letsgodigital.org
www.digitalkamera.de www.digital-world.de
www.testberichte. de
www.dkamera.de
www.testfreaks.de The massive storms and rains of the past weeks and months in "Brisbane" has the banks of the creek that runs past at our campsite, suffered greatly . Currently working to rehabilitate the eroded footpath in several places.
the end of the rainy day (it has only rained off and light) is formed when a beautiful rainbow sunset :-) If you look closely, you can even see the double rainbow.
And finally gives us the full moon again, like yesterday, the honor :-)
